I am talking to a few churches at the moment about maybe taking on their sites so I am hoping that this theme may actually become a reality. The fact I’ve made it already will reduce the cost a bit which is nice!

If you’d like to use it drop me a line – it wouldn’t be free as I’ve not turned it into a WP theme yet so that’s a bit of work but I can certainly do some kind of discount.

Here’s another site I created for fun. Originally it was because someone I know suggested he might like a website for his gardening business but this hasn’t gone anywhere yet so I figured I might as well just throw it out there. This one has been developed with WordPress although I haven’t put any proper content in there. The image on the right of the frontpage can scroll through to show other images (using Custom Fields within the WordPress backend) and the pictures were taken from the Stock Exchange as illustrations only.

It’s another simple, clean site that doesn’t do anything fancy but lets the gardener and their work speak through the use of images and some well written content. There’s space up the top for the name of the company or logo or anything else that is needed and again I have placed quick and easy contact info near the top of the page.

I am pleased with this one. Again – it’s been made now so please do drop me a line if you have use for it – it would need a bit of tweaking and somewhere to live but I can arrange all those things if you want. You can see it working on Hostingland.

Right – back to some proper work!

I recently read an article written by Themes Guy suggesting a great way to get better at web design - he made the point that, like musicians, you don't always have to be performing for someone to get better at something.

I recently read an article written by Themes Guy suggesting a great way to get better at web design – he made the point that, like musicians, you don’t always have to be performing for someone to get better at something. So I’ve decided to put some time each week aside to just making websites for myself – designs that are simple and clean but that, in some way, extend my ability. I’m still getting used to actually making the graphics and design for websites (I’m more used to coding!) so a bit of time spent in this way can only be a good thing.

So…

A few weeks back we went to a campsite over near Robin Hood’s Bay. It was a great place. We stayed for about two hours as after that time our tent had fallen down, a couple of poles had snapped and some guy ropes had broken. We went to stay with my dad instead.

Because of that experience I decided to make a template for a campsite website. You can see the results on hostingland. Middlewood Farm already have a website so it’s not taking the place of that but they have very kindly said they don’t mind me using their name and text for the demo site.

It’s quite a basic layout using a few drop shadows (as is my way at the moment!) but I like the clean-ness of it. I put the quick contact information up at the top as really that’s what people will want to know. The thumbnails at the top are easily changeable through the backend and the image of the campsite (not Middlewood Farm) will be an image ticker of some kind with a variety of photos. I haven’t put any pages to it yet so it’s only the front page that you see if you follow the link but the pages won’t take long to put together.

I just thought I’d mention it. If you see it and like it and think it would work for you then give me a shout. The theme would need a bit of work as the text is specific to Middlewood Farm at the moment but that’s all easily changed and I’ve made it now so if you have a use for it give me a shout – I’d be happy to finish it off for you and even host it (although the hosting part wouldn’t be free!)
